Quick Overview on How Location Tracking Works

In our Universe, there are around 27 artificial satellites. They rotate twice around the globe at the speed of 12,000 miles. Their acceleration is set in such an order that at a time, four of these satellites are visible in the sky. On the Earth, the purpose of tracking devices is to locate these four satellites, figure out the distance between them and use the fetched information to transmit information about the movement of the object in which they are fitted.

Way too back in the history, the U.S. military used location tracking technology in their military operations. But now, this marvelous technology is available for use for everybody. People use it for tracking their spouses, kids, autos, mobile phones and elderly members of their family. The interesting factor is to see that how this wonderful technology works. Let’s have a quick overview on that!

Well, it works of a basic mathematical principle known as 3D Trilateration. In it, a transponder is fitted in the object whose movement is to be tracked. This receiver transmits the signals to the satellites. The celestial objects grasp these signals and reflect them back. Same way, the tracker fetches the signal. In totality, numerous signals are transmitted back and forth and later on, it is calculated that how quickly the device under surveillance is moving on the ground.

The fetched information is monitored in two ways – either it is tracker at the same time by a distant computer device or the information is stored in a built-in memory chip and is evaluated later on.
